The Phoolbagan metro station’s innovative design was achieved with the use of cutting-edge construction solution, including a glass ceiling. A light-filled, vibrant, and inviting glass skylight shines atop the Phoolbagan metro station, Kolkata which brings ample sunlight into the building. The largest of this skylight located in the center’s primary public space, provides a light source all the way to the metro platforms, giving a sense of space, brightness, and safety to the modern structure. The centerpiece of the Phoolbagan metro station is the gleaming PYROSWISS® SMOKE BARRIER SYSTEM. Our glazed D120 PYROSWISS® SMOKE BARRIER SYSTEM as per EN12101 standard controls the movement and containment of hot smoke within the building. PYROSWISS® SBS is ideal for such open space design to contain and channel hot smoke.

LITE-FLOOR is a unique and innovative structural glass product from Vetrotech Saint-Gobain which is sustainable and comes with visual and thermal comfort. Due to the local regulations a two-hour fire resistance was required for the Control Room, hence EW120 VDS® fire-rated fixed partitions were supplied to compliment protective glazing. Modern VDS® PARTITIONS with clean corners allow the wall system of Control Room to meet two-hour fire resistance of insulation. This VDS® Resistive framing system brings together engineered steel partitions with fire-rated glazing products to provide a fire-resistive framing solutions, with slim sight-line profiles having clean lines.

Moreover, this solution includes thermal insulation, which ensures that the ceiling’s characteristics remain unaltered regardless of the weather conditions. Vetrotech Saint-Gobain produced and rigorously tested an innovative solution involving horizontal structural glass solution to avoid replacing glass frequently due to dirt and condensation issues that would develop with foot traffic and the outdoor environment.
