Performances

VETROGARD Bullet is engineered to provide maximum protection against ballistic threats. By incorporating multiple layers of glass and interlayers, this bullet-resistant glass effectively absorbs and disperses the energy of an incoming bullet, preventing perforation.
This multi-layered construction is what defines modern bullet resistant glass doors and ensures reliability across high-risk applications.

Bulletproof Glass Thickness and Material Composition

The thickness and layered composition of the bullet resistant glass heavily impact the rating of the solution. This glass is not a single pane but a bullet resistant laminated glass system, made by bonding multiple layers of glass with specialised interlayers. These interlayers absorb and disperse the energy from bullets, preventing perforation.

The wide range of configurations allows flexibility in bulletproof glass thickness, ensuring suitability for different threat levels and architectural needs.

Understanding Ballistic Glass Levels and Specifications

Bullet resistant glass is classified based on the EN 1063 standard, which defines how well the glass performs against different types of firearms and ammunition. These classifications range from BR1 to BR7, helping architects and security planners select the appropriate protection level.

Higher classifications provide increased protection against high-velocity and armour-piercing ammunition. This security solution can be further enhanced with additional features, including ceramic printing, fire resistance, thermal and acoustic insulation, and other advanced glazing options.

Another key aspect of this glass specification is splintering behaviour. Glass can be classified as S (Splintering) or NS (No Splinter), where NS variants are designed to prevent glass fragments from detaching on the protected side, reducing injury risk during impact.

FAQs

What is bullet-resistant glass?

Bullet-resistant glass is a multi-layered glazing solution designed to resist perforation from bullets. While not completely “proof,” it significantly reduces the risk of perforation and injury.

Is bullet proof glass legal?

Yes, bulletproof glass is legal in most regions, including India. Its use is common in commercial buildings, government facilities, defence buildings, and increasingly in homes, subject to local regulations.

Can I install bullet proof glass for windows in residential homes?

Yes, bulletproof glass can be installed in residential properties. Many homeowners opt for bullet proof window glass as an added layer of security, especially in high-risk or premium housing segments.

Can I install bullet proof glass for windows in residential homes?

Yes, bulletproof glass can be installed in residential properties. Many homeowners opt for bullet proof window glass as an added layer of security, especially in high-risk or premium housing segments.

Why is "No Splinter" (NS) glass preferred for bulletproof glass doors?

NS (non-splintering) glass prevents glass shards from ejecting on the protected side upon impact. This makes it ideal for glass doors and interior applications where occupant safety is critical.

How expensive is bulletproof glass?

The cost of bulletproof glass depends on factors such as size, configuration, and thickness. Higher resistance levels typically require thicker, more complex construction, increasing costs.

What is the lifespan of bulletproof glass?

High-quality bullet resistant glass systems like VETROGARD Bullet are designed for long-term durability, often lasting decades with proper installation and maintenance, while maintaining their structural and protective performance.

How does VETROGARD bullet-resistant glass perform in terms of thermal insulation and solar control?

Our glass security solutions offer excellent thermal insulation with U-values as low as 0.9 W/m²K (double glazing). Additionally, it provides solar control with a solar factor between 0.35 to 0.43, enhancing energy efficiency.
