CURTIVIA™ Fire Curtain Solutions
What is the CURTIVIA™ Fire Curtain solution?
Fire safety has always come at a cost to design. Until now.
Open-plan offices, hotel lobbies, atriums, connected kitchens: these are the spaces that define contemporary architecture in India, and they are precisely the spaces that conventional fire solutions struggle most to accommodate without leaving a mark. CURTIVIA™ changes that equation. Fire curtains that are engineered to sit concealed within a compact headbox and sleek side guides, CURTIVIA™ fire curtains are invisible in everyday use and invincible in an emergency. The fire curtain system deploys automatically the moment a fire signal is received to form a tested fire compartment boundary. This is what it looks like when Vetrotech Saint-Gobain's fire safety expertise meets the demands of the modern design brief.
Invisible Until It Matters Most.
A fire curtain asks nothing of a space on an ordinary day. No frame interrupting the ceiling, no visual boundary dividing the floor plate. But when triggered, it deploys in seconds, forming a tested barrier that compartmentalizes smoke and flame with precision. Architecture stays open. Safety stays absolute. The two were never in conflict.
How does a Fire Curtain system work?
When fire strikes, CURTIVIA™ is already moving.
Here is exactly what happens, from the moment a fire signal is received to the moment everyone is safe. Twelve steps. Zero hesitation.
Four reasons to specify CURTIVIA™
For architects who refuse to compromise on design.
For fire consultants who refuse to compromise on performance.
The headbox starts from 210 × 200mm. Side guides start from 87 × 40mm: the sleekest profile in the market. Three powder coat finishes: Jet Black, White Aluminium, Traffic White. Concealed within your ceiling, these commercial curtains take no visual real estate.
EN 1634-1. Bi-directionally tested for symmetric fire performance. Multi-barrel system tested allowing extension up to width of 22 metres. Extended fire performance beyond 180 minutes. Tested in internationally accredited laboratories.
Specification. Supply. Installation. Inspection. Maintenance.
As a fire curtain manufacturer and supplier in India, CURTIVIA™ supports projects through every stage of execution, from Specification, with technical guidance, drawing coordination, and system selection support, to Supply of tested fire curtain systems aligned with project requirements and execution timelines. Installation is carried out through the CURTIVIA™ Certified Installer Program, ensuring every system is installed by trained and authorized specialists with an understanding of tested system requirements and on-site execution standards. Inspection includes professional support, deployment checks, and system verification to help ensure operational readiness before handover, while Maintenance support includes periodic service guidance and AMC options to help maintain long-term system performance and compliance throughout the building lifecycle.
With over 15 years of expertise in fire safety in India, Vetrotech Saint-Gobain brings advanced fire curtain technologies to critical building design. CURTIVIA™ is a next-generation solution from the people who defined life safety.

What is a fire curtain?
A fire curtain is an automatic fire-resistant barrier that deploys from a concealed ceiling-mounted headbox when triggered by a fire alarm. In normal use, it is completely invisible, stored rolled inside a compact housing. During a fire, it descends to form a compartment that restricts the spread of flames and smoke, enabling safe evacuation and protecting property. Fire curtains require no structural modification and preserve the architectural intent of open-plan spaces.
Are fire curtains compliant under NBC 2016?
Yes. Fire curtains are explicitly recognised as approved fire barriers under NBC 2016 Clause 2.20, with compartmentation requirements specified under Clause 4.5.2. They are also referenced in Annex G-3(c) for open kitchen applications.
What is the EN 1634-1 testing standard?
EN 1634-1 is the European standard for fire resistance testing of door, shutter, and opening protective assemblies: the most rigorous internationally recognised standard applicable to fire curtains. CURTIVIA™ is tested to this standard bi-directionally (fire exposure from either face) in internationally accredited laboratories, providing specifiers with the highest level of confidence available in this product category.
How wide can a fire curtain be?
CURTIVIA™ fire curtains are tested as a multi-barrel system with width extendable up to 22 metres. This makes CURTIVIA™ suitable for the largest open-plan spans, atrium openings, and wide corridor applications.
What happens to the fire curtain deployment if there is a power failure during a fire?
CURTIVIA™ fire curtains include a gravity fail-safe mechanism. In the event of total power failure, the curtain deploys automatically, gravity drives the controlled descent regardless of electrical supply. CURTIVIA™ is engineered to perform in the scenario where performance matters most and that scenario often includes infrastructure failure.
How to install fire curtains?
CURTIVIA™ is installed exclusively by certified specialists trained through the CURTIVIA™ Certified Installer Program. Certified installers have completed hands-on training in system installation, site best practices, and compliance requirements. Installation by a certified installer is required for warranty validity and test certificate preservation.
What is the Fire Curtain System?
A fire curtain system is a setup hidden in the ceiling with motors, controls, and fireproof fabric. When the fire alarm triggers, it drops the curtain at a specific speed and smoothly to seal off areas, stopping fire and smoke spread.
What type of fire curtains does Vetrotech manufacture?
Vetrotech manufactures automatic fire curtains like the CURTIVIA™ E120 solution that deploys vertically with precision-controlled descent for fire compartmentation in modern buildings. These fire curtains are tested to EN 1634-1 standards.
Do fire curtains require any maintenance?
Yes, fire curtains need regular checks and professional servicing at least twice a year by certified experts to ensure they deploy properly. Follow the manufacturer's schedule, including inspections of fabric, motors, and controls, often with annual maintenance contracts (AMC), as offered by Vetrotech Saint-Gobain.
