Integrity, radiation control and insulation
When classifying glass for the marine industry, both letters and numbers are used. The letters signify the duration of integrity of the glass – in other words, the time before it fails: B= 30 minutes, A= 60 minutes, H= 120 minutes. The numbers indicate the duration of thermal insulation: 0 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and so on. Therefore, a glazing solution categorized as “A60” will therefore prevent flames from spreading for 60 minutes (Integrity= A) and provide thermal insulation for 60 minutes as well, allowing safe evacuation.
It is important to note that all of the glasses used in our fire-resistant products are tempered, which have a numerous of different benefits. Easy and secure handling when installing the glass, but just as important – very hard to break for passengers once it is installed on board the ship.
