Blueprint of Self: Vetrotech Saint-Gobain's Women's Day Moment

Date:

This Women's Day, Vetrotech Saint-Gobain chose not to send flowers and move on.

Instead, we went to the offices of the architects we work with – the women who specify, design, and build the spaces that define how people live and work – and we asked them to pause. Just for a moment. To turn the design lens on themselves.

That was the idea behind Blueprint of Self: a small, in-person activity conducted across architect firms in the Middle East, created as a gesture of genuine appreciation for the women professionals in our industry.

The session began with a simple observation: architects spend their careers designing foundations for others. The presentation asked a quiet question: when was the last time you designed your own professional foundation? Using the language of blueprints and specifications, a vocabulary this audience knows instinctively, participants were guided through a quiet moment of professional self-reflection.

The response from the firms we visited was something we will not forget quickly. What struck our team most was not what was written on the cards, but what happened in the room while people were writing. The conversations that started. The moments of recognition when one person read their sign-off aloud and the rest of the group nodded.

Vetrotech Saint-Gobain works closely with architects and specifiers every day. They are not just our customers, they are the professionals who shape the built environment, who make decisions about safety and quality that affect thousands of people. We believe that the relationship between a material manufacturer and the professionals who specify their products should be more than transactional. It should be built on genuine respect, on shared knowledge, and on a real understanding of the world these professionals inhabit. Blueprint of Self was one expression of that belief.  Because we believe that invisible strength matters. In the buildings we help protect. And in the professionals who build them.
