EI Class – Integrity & Insulation

Class EI (Integrity & Insulation) is considered as the highest performance classification level for fire compartmentalization. In addition to the integrity performance assessment, it measures the ability of construction products, such as fire resistant glass, to limit heat transfer during a fire so that neither the unexposed surface nor any material near that surface is ignited. Class EI glass also provides a strong barrier to heat for people near to it. EW Class – Integrity & Radiation control

Class EW (Integrity & Radiation) rating is also a measure of Integrity performance (E) with the addition of the ability to minimize radiant heat transfer from the fire side to the unexposed side. By reducing the amount of energy passing through its surface, EW-classified fire resistant glass can provide enhanced protection against the spread of fire and create safer evacuation passages.
