FIRE DOOR REGULATIONS
Regulations require the installation of fire doors at specific locations within a building to evacuate people from inside the building. As with any fire protection system, a fire door’s performance is certified by a classification report that is issued by an approved laboratory. Each report certifies the degree of fire resistance provided by a complete glazed structure for a given length of time, while specifying the type of fire protection glazing used, its integration within a framing system, and appropriate installation in a building environment.
Exterior fire doors fall under the European construction product regulation (CPR) and especially harmonized standard EN 16034 and required CE marking. Interior fire doors are subject to national building regulations and tested according harmonized test standards such as EN 1634-1 or EN 1191.
Today, fire-rated glazed doors can be approved to achieve E, EW and EI ratings.
