Meet the Team

The Vetrotech management team brings together a diverse group of experienced, open-minded executives from around the world. Our team is instrumental in setting and executing our strategic approach to excellence in customer experience and profitable growth in order to uphold our mission: To protect life and property in modern architecture with innovative glass solutions.

CEO | RETO COMETTA

My history with Vetrotech dates to 2002, when I joined as Plant Manager for the main production site in Bern, Switzerland. Over the next 14 years, as Technical Director and then Operations Director, I was fortunate to be able to contribute to Vetrotech’s business development and geographic expansion into new sites across Europe and South Asia. In 2017, I took the opportunity to lead the Saint-Gobain windows business unit as General Manager.

Since my 20-plus-year journey with Saint-Gobain began at Vetrotech, I’m proud to have returned to the company in 2022 to serve as its CEO.

Born and raised in Switzerland, I hold a master’s degree in chemical engineering and a postgraduate degree in business administration. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my spouse and three adult children, particularly when we can be outdoors. I am also passionate about sports, especially triathlons.

CFO | SEBASTIEN DA SILVA

My career started in 2008 in the glass bottle industry. When I joined Saint-Gobain in 2011, I was able to climb the ladder within the financial sector and explore various industries, including building materials and glazing for transportation. In 2018, I had the chance to join the company’s strategy department, where I served as an assistant on mergers and acquisitions and strategic development.

When I joined Vetrotech in 2021, I became part of a family of passionate people who share unique know-how, strong values, and dedication to our customers. As CFO, I am proud to work alongside our teams in fulfilling our common mission: to make the world a safer place, in part through our commitment to achieving carbon neutrality in our activities by 2050.

I am a French citizen, of Portuguese origin. While I live in Switzerland today, I’ve had the opportunity to spend several years in England and Italy. I hold a master’s degree from ESC Reims Management School. I have many passions, including guitar, DIY, and cooking, and I love spending time in nature and photographing landscapes.

MARKETING DIRECTOR | KIRK RATZEL

My first experience with Vetrotech Saint-Gobain was as a customer. I am an architect by profession but have spent most of my professional career in the building products industry. I joined the company back in 1993 and was fortunate to work under the company’s founders who passed on to me their passion for developing and bringing to market fully transparent, fire-resistant safety glass.

In the years since that time, that passion has grown. In fact, I’ve found that what I like most about my work with Vetrotech is knowing that every day we are, together with our customers and partners, contributing to a safer and more secure world.

I am a dual American-Swiss national but consider myself first and foremost a “citizen of the world.” Over the years, I have lived and worked in five different countries and have acquired much experience in international market development and sales. When I do find some free time, I pursue my other passion: riding and restoring classic motorcycles.

SALES DIRECTOR | PAUL GOUDEAU

After obtaining my MBA, I began my professional career in the petrochemical sector in Thailand. In September 2000, I joined Saint-Gobain’s glass business. Over the following decades, I have served in various international roles, including as Head of Exports, Director Sales & Marketing, and in general management.

Heading Vetrotech’s sales is a wonderful new step for me. I have joined a team of high calibre professionals, alongside whom I wish to leverage my more than 20 years of experience with architectural projects and glass in fully living up to Vetrotech’s motto. We thrive on advising and supporting our partners and stakeholders in selecting the appropriate glass solutions to meet safe design requirements, whether burglary, attack, or fire protection is concerned.

I am a French national with British roots, married to a wife of Chinese origin whom I met during my years in international business school. I am the happy father of two teenage girls. While I enjoy architectural works, I also love natural landscapes. In fact, I love to photograph landscapes when travelling or hiking in the mountains. I also love cooking for my family and friends, eating French cheese, and drinking good wine! I am passionate about Rugby and have played for 20 years. More recently, I have discovered that motorcycles provide an exciting new perspective from which to travel the world and meet new people.

DIRECTOR TESTING & CERTIFICATION | PETER FISCHER

I joined Vetrotech in 2002 as IT manager. Four years later, I had the opportunity to take responsibility for our fire-resistant testing lab, IFTS, in Bern, Switzerland. In 2008, I was made responsible for all testing activities. That included overseeing the relocation of the laboratory to its current location in Herzogenrath, Germany, and building a new team. In 2014 I returned to Switzerland and accepted the position as Director of Testing & Certification, responsible for product testing and certification activities worldwide. As of 2023, I am also a member of Vetrotech’s executive board.

My background is in engineering, for which I hold a master’s degree. I was born and raised in Switzerland, and live here today with my spouse and children. I enjoy all manner of sports, including running, mountain biking in the summer, and skiing along the slopes in winter.

HR DIRECTOR | CHANTAL NGUYEN MICHAUD

In 2015, I became a part of the Saint-Gobain group, accumulating diverse HR experience within various businesses, including Placoplatre, Isover, Isonat, Coramine, and Ecophon, all located in France.  My professional journey has led me to Vetrotech, as Human Resources Director, which I joined in February 2023. I'm thrilled to be a part of an esteemed international company whose products and solutions are intrinsically connected to the safety and well-being of individuals and where I have the privilege of collaborating with an outstanding team of HR experts. Together, we consistently achieve remarkable milestones and demonstrate exemplary teamwork while tackling the inherent challenges stemming from cultural diversity.

My educational background includes studies at the Dublin Business School in 1999 and an HR management school near my hometown in 1997.

Outside of work, my primary focus is on my family, I’m now a mother of three. I'm passionate about cooking, enjoy adventure films, and relish spending my free time rollerblading.

DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL OPERATIONS | TIM GUHL

After working 9 years in the automation industry in Germany I joined Saint-Gobain in 2017 to set up and lead the Department “Smart Manufacturing and Robotics” at Saint-Gobain Research Germany. There I also coordinated a community and research program on “Robotics and Automation” spanning across the Saint-Gobain group.

I joined Vetrotech early at the beginning of 2023 as Director of Technical Operations. In this role I have three closely related responsibilities, namely the production processes and technology of our plants, our Digital and IT Activities and the Innovations Department.

My educational background are a Master and PhD in engineering obtained at Imperial College London.

I spend most of my free time with my family. Together we play, go for walks, relax in or tend to the garden, spend time with friends, and go cycling or swimming. In addition to these activities, I enjoy reading, cooking and baking sourdough bread.

GENERAL MANAGER, NORTH AMERICA | BRAD HANSON

I joined the Saint-Gobain Group in 2007, leading the marketing and customer service functions for the Medical Components business, then helping develop the single-use Bioprocess and Medical Components businesses across Asia Pacific.  In 2013, I returned to my home state of Minnesota to lead the global Marketing efforts of the Bioprocess Solutions BU, and subsequently as Managing Director of the Electronics business for several years.  In 2023 I had the opportunity to join SageGlass as General Manager, and in 2024, as General Manager of Vetrotech North America as well.

Our people and mission to Make the World a Better Home inspire me each day, and are aligned with my passion for protecting the environment and enjoying the natural world.
