Introduction
Glazed façades provide building occupants with direct access to natural daylight and connection the outside world. Numerous studies have shown that this can benefit people’s well-being, comfort, and productivity. Students perform better, patients see faster recovery times, and employees experience higher job satisfaction in buildings where glazed façades admit natural daylight. Vetrotech’s fire-resistant and high-security glazed solutions for façade applications are the perfect fit for buildings that must meet stringent safety precautions without compromising on the comfort and well-being of building occupants.

Performance
Vetrotech’s high-performing life-safety glazing materials for facades are tested and certified according to EN (and UL) standards to go beyond conventional glass functionality. These materials provide building occupants with additional protection against fire, manual attack, gunfire, and even explosions. They can be compatible with a large range of façade solutions, such as stick or unitised curtain wall system or Structural Sealant Glazing (SSG) façade.
A variety of resistance classes are available to meet national building regulations and project requirements. For fire-resistant applications, options include Class E, EW, and EI materials, with ratings lasting from 15 up to 120 minutes. Our high-security glazing options protect against three different kinds of threats: intrusion attempts using manual attack methods, in compliance with P6B to P8B resistance classes and beyond; resistance to gunfire of various calibres, in compliance with Classes BR1 through BR7, SG1, and SG2, as well as Kalashnikov rounds; and protection from nearby explosions in accordance with Classes ER1 to ER4 resistance levels.
