High-security Glass & Systems
High-security glass & systems from Vetrotech provide multifunctional solutions for safe, beautiful, sustainable, and comfortable buildings.
Introduction
When it comes to protecting people, there can be no compromise in your building’s security precautions. In today’s world, we face increasing dangers of attack by intruders, shootings, and explosions in public spaces. Vetrotech’s security glass and high security glass solutions are designed to resist such threats while meeting every building requirement for seamless architectural integration. Our advanced security glazing and high tech security glass technologies provide reliable glass for security in a wide range of building applications.
To verify that a protective glazing solution can mitigate the impact of manual attacks, bullets, or blasts, it is crucial to test these solutions as part of a complete system: the glass, as well as the framing, anchorage, and other components. By testing the security glazing system as a whole, it is possible to assess the interaction between all components and better understand the performance of high security glass and other glass for security solutions.
Attack Class
Attack resistant glass or burglar-resistant security glass is classified based on its ability to resist manual attacks using tools such as hammers, crowbars, and power tools. This type of high security glass is commonly used as glass for security in buildings that require enhanced protection against forced entry.
Classifications are set by various international standards, including EN 356 and EN 1627–1630. These standards provide criteria for testing the resistance of a complete security glazing system to different types of manual attacks. Security glazing tested to meet resistance classes P6B to P8B provides some of the highest levels of protection available, using advanced high tech security glass designed for demanding security applications.

Bullet Class
Bullet-resistant glass (often referred to as “Bullet Proof”) is a type of security glass classified according to standardized levels of ballistic protection, for example BR1 through BR7 as determined by the European standard EN 1063. This bullet resistant glass is widely used as high security glass and glass for security in buildings that require protection against firearm threats.
These classes are used to evaluate the ability of a material or product to withstand penetration by different types of ammunition. The testing process involves firing multiple rounds of various calibres and velocities at the material or product from varying distances and angles. By testing complete security glazing systems, manufacturers can assess the performance of advanced high tech security glass and ensure reliable protection in demanding environments.

Blast Class
Blast-resistant glass is a specialized type of security glass designed to withstand the dangers of explosions and other high-pressure events. This high security glass is commonly used as glass for security in buildings that require protection against blast threats and extreme impact forces.
The European standard EN 13541 classifies blast proof glass into four categories, ER1 to ER4, based on their ability to resist different levels of explosive pressure. These classifications help define the performance of complete security glazing systems, which combine advanced high tech security glass with compatible framing to ensure reliable protection in high-risk environments.
