    Sustainability in marine glazing industry

In today’s industry sustainability is more relevant than ever. The IMO has set the goal to reduce carbon intensity by 40% until 2030 and by 50% in total up to 2050. To achieve these ambitious targets, existing vessels that plan to go on refurbishments have to comply with new Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) which measures the energy efficiency of the ship.

For new-build projects the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is the most important technical measure and aims at promoting the use of more energy efficient equipment. The Greenhouse Gas Strategy was approved by the IMO in 2018 and are set to be in motion on 2023.

In Vetrotech Marine we can contribute to achieve your green ship ambitions and complying with the EEDI and EEXI regulations. Glass plays a fundamental role in how much energy a vessel can consume, by focusing on weight savings or the usage of the right coating solutions in order to reduce the need for heavy HVAC systems.
