IMO Regulations are clear
The IMO (International Marine Organisation) introduced regulations enforcing the use of materials that prevent and contain fire. These regulations were established in 1974 at the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). Designing ships to ensure easy evacuation routes for crew and passengers are a key element of the regulations. This has led to the development of fire-resistant glass in areas like lifeboats, embarkation points, sections of the hull where evacuation equipment is lowered, and bulkheads separating the different fire compartments inside a ship.
