Product Description

SGG Vetroflam Fire protection glass for E and EW classification has been developed to meet the new radiation control classification of Euronorm EN 357 July 2000.
As a 6mm thick single sheet the product provides in excess of 60 minutes integrity, and demonstrates a significant reduction in the transmission of radiated heat through the glass.

Fire protection properties – classification
E and EW30 as well as E and EW60, Tested according to EN 1363 and EN 1364
Reduction of radiated heat:
<15 kW/m² for 30 minutes up to a distance of one metre
<15 kW/m² for 60 minutes up to a distance of one metre

Asymmetrical or symmetrical fire protection, Remains clear in the event of a fire.

Behaviour in a fire

The glass prevents the passage of flames, smoke and gases in the case of a fire.  The passage of radiated heat is also reduced.

In the case of a fire a high temperature difference occurs between the glass and the frame.  Due to a special coating, which reflects the infra-red radiation, the glass is heated up more slowly, which creates less tension.  This special coating reduces the radiated heat, optimising the conduct of the glass in the case of a fire.

Application

Can be easily employed for both internal and external applications as a single sheet of glass or laminated to provide 60 to 120 minutes fire resistance (E60 to E120).

  • Installation into standard timber and steel frames and doors in large pane sizes
  • Full height glazed partitions, in clear, tinted or decorative glass
  • Vertical, sloped or horizontal applications
  • Drilled and suspended smoke curtains/barriers in accordance with BS 7346: Part 3
Combinations

Single glazing

            Laminated
Double glazing

Fully certified to BS 476: Part 22 and in a thickness of 6mm. Providing 60 minutes integrity plus a significant reduction in the transmission of radiated heat. In single form SGG VETROFLAM provides asymmetrical fire resistance.

For symmetrical performance SGG VETROFLAM is available as a standard 12.76mm thick product.

SGG VETROFLAM'S unique performance and abilities are best illustrated when the product is incorporated into double glazed units.

Solar control glass types such as SGG PARSOL, SGG ANTELIO and SGG COOL-LITE can easily be incorporated. Existing BS 476: Part 2 certification allows the use of SGG VETROFLAM in any previously certified system for 60 minutes integrity (EW60) up to a maximum size of over 5m².

Multifunctional

The fire protection function of SGG Vetroflam can easily be combined with other Saint Gobain products.

  • As sloped glazing in overhead areas, SGG VETROFLAM CLIMALIT and SGG VETROFLAM CLIMAPLUS can be combined with VETROFLAM STADIP.
  • SGG VETROFLAM SKYLITE can be used for roof glazing.
  • SGG VETROFLAM STADIP is suitable as walkable glazing for overpasses and transparent floors
  • SGG VETROFLAM can also be installed as an obscure or structural decorative glass

Further combinations are possible by individual application development.  Fire tests in independent test institutes guarantee that safety requirements are best met.

Safety

As a toughened glass, SGG VETROFLAM already has safety glass properties. It can also be made into laminated safety glass with a PVB interlayer (SGG Stadip).  In this case the glass has further safety properties as well as fire protection.  The excellent sound reduction properties achieved with double glazed units and laminated glass ensure a higher user comfort by protection from noise pollution.

Please Note
The respective performance and combination possibilities with SGG Vetroflam are dependent on the country specific fire tests and assessments.
